MSW - Melbourne Sex Workers

Meghan Ruin The Forbidden Arts Event Melbourne

Episode Summary

Eden & Dante speak to Meghan Ruin Founder of The Forbidden Arts, an event being help in Melbourne Sunday the 13th of September 2026. We talk about sex work, shame, eroticism, grief, pleasure, and so much more. Meghan shares that somewhere Between the Will to Live and the Will to Die is an immersive evening exploring our relationship with death through the lens of the erotic arts, human psychology, and embodied experience. At The Forbidden Arts, we understand the erotic not simply as sexuality, but as the life force itself. The force that moves us towards intimacy, creativity, grief, pleasure, truth, expression, courage, and transformation. By exploring the relationship between eros and death, we invite a deeper encounter with what it means to be fully alive. This evening invites us to transform our relationship with death. Not only death as the end of life, but the many "mini deaths" we experience throughout our lifetime. The endings of identities, relationships, beliefs, dreams, stories, and versions of ourselves that create space for something new to emerge. In honour of World Suicide Prevention Day, the evening also creates space for compassionate conversations around suicide prevention, suicidal thoughts, and the often hidden parts of ourselves or those we love that carry them. Rather than offering answers, we invite curiosity, presence, and connection through art, conversation, and shared human experience.
